

Etheridge Suspended for Malaysia Friendly

Neil Etheridge is rendered ineligible to play against Harimau Malaya on June 1, 2012 after being given a 1-match suspension by the AFC Disciplinary Committee last April 26, 2012.
Fulham keeper was found guilty of violating Article 57 of the Disciplinary Code during the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 semifinal match against Palestine last March 19, 2012 and was also fined USD 3000.
[AFC Disciplinary Code] Article 57 Offensive behaviour and fair play
Anyone who insults someone in any way, especially by using offensive gestures or language, or who violates the principles of fair play or whose behaviour is unsporting in any other way may be subject to sanctions in accordance with art. 10 ff.
Since all offical matches of the national team are AFC-sanctioned, Etheridge is suspended for Malaysia. This is pursuant to AFC Disciplinary Code’s Article 38 paragraph 2 a),

2. Unless otherwise decided by a judicial body, match suspensions in relation to an expulsion pronounced on a player outside of a competition (separate match[es]) or not served during the competition for which they were intended (elimination or the last match in the competition) are carried over as follows:
a) AFC competitions for representative teams shall be carried over to the representative team’s subsequent official match;
With Etheridge's ineligibility, Roland Muller will be the goalkeeper against Malaysia.
